I am pleased to announce that Jacob Marks’s entry to the 2024 Vaarn Summer Jam, Penumbral Oasis: Part One, is now available in print format from Antipode Zines.
Penumbral Oasis is a three-level dungeon suitable for starting PCs. It contains plenty of new monsters and Exotica, as well as a hook for a second installment of the dungeon. I tend not to actively review the entries to Vaarn Summer Jams because I want my role to be more of a facilitator for creativity, but I think this is one of the strongest third-party modules explicitly set in Vaarn, both from a design and visual polish standpoint.
I will however quote Nova from Playful Void, who fully reviewed the zine and said:
The rooms have a lot of interest, the tale at the heart of it all is compelling, there’s a lot of exciting things to recover and reasons to delve deeper. The art is stellar, and the overall visual appeal of the zine is super strong. It’s a very strong addition to your Vaults of Vaarn library.
I couldn’t agree more. I have a limited amount of copies available so I’d buy this soon if it takes your fancy.
