Ennie Nomination and Other News

Lots of exciting news this month at Vaults of Vaarn towers. Firstly, The Shrike, my enormous Hell-bound OSE adventure module, has been shortlisted for an ENNIE Award! This is a total surprise to me, but a nice one. I spent a lot of writing time feeling that the project was totally out of control creatively and wouldn’t resonate with anybody, so it’s nice to have some confirmation of the opposite.

The next phase is a public vote, which I understand runs from the 11th of July to the 21st. I would (obviously) love to be an ENNIE winning writer, so if you like my work please consider voting for me in the Longform Adventure category! Thank you.

There are some other great titles from the OSR-sphere up for vote as well. I’d especially like to recommend Mythic Bastionland, which is up for Product of the Year as well as Best Artwork. Chris and Alec did some of their best work yet for this book, it’s really phenomenal.

Vaults of Vaarn 2E is now only three weeks away from launch! I have been beavering away on a full-colour cover, which now graces the top of this post. I’ve made a behind the scenes post about the creation of the cover image, which is available for my Patrons.

I was interviewed on LA ESQUINA DEL ROL GAMES about the writing process for Second Edition. We had a great chat about my inspirations, my artwork, and the pressures of writing an expanded edition.

Last but not least, the Vaarn Summer Jam 2025 is currently running on Itch.io. Please come join us and create some science fantasy content in a non-competitive environment. Come join us on the Vaults of Vaarn Discord server to discuss the jam and get help with your entry!
